‘The Wire,' ‘Bosch' Actor Lance Reddick Dies at Age 60, Publicist Says




The entertainment world has lost a talented actor and musician, Lance Reddick, who passed away on Friday morning at his home in Los Angeles. He was 60 years old and died of natural causes. Reddick is survived by his wife and two children.

Reddick was best known for his outstanding performances in various hit TV series and movies, including "The Wire," "Bosch," "Fringe," "Lost," and the "John Wick" franchise. He was a Baltimore native and graduate of Yale University drama school. Despite his undeniable talent, Reddick once revealed that he had to work extra hard to make it in the industry because he was a Black man who wasn't considered conventionally handsome.

Reddick's sudden death shocked the entertainment industry, especially since he had recently been on a press tour for the latest "John Wick" film installment and was scheduled to make a guest appearance on "The Kelly Clarkson Show" next week. He had several upcoming projects, including the remake of "White Men Can't Jump," the Netflix biopic "Shirley," and the "John Wick" spinoff "Ballerina," among others.

Aside from his acting career, Reddick was also an accomplished musician who studied classical composition at the Eastman School of Music. He released his first album, "Contemplations and Remembrances," in 2011, showcasing his jazzy and soulful sound.

Reddick's sudden passing drew an outpouring of tributes and condolences from his Hollywood colleagues and fans. Actor Ben Stiller shared his thoughts about Reddick, calling him a "beautiful and compelling actor" and "a beautiful person."
